Collapsible Blocks & RSS Feeds

Greetings,

I'm curious as to how you activate collapsible blocks? I've configured the block's collapse behavior to "Collapsible, expanded by default", yet no plus/minus image displays allowing me to expand/collapse the block.

Also, I'm wondering how you got the feeds listings down at the bottom to look so nice. I presume you're using the Feed Aggregator provided by Drupal. I've activated that module and cannot get some feeds to work, let alone get the feeds that do work to display as yours do on the Diver Theme Demo site.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thx!

Hm, the collapsible block issue might be related to something on the server end - it sounds suspiciously like a problem someone else encountered not too long ago that requires a minor hack to the jTools module. Is all the other javascript on site working as expected?

The feeds on the demo are controlled by Drupal's feed aggregator, yes - so if they're placed in those blocks, they should be appearing as they are on our site. Are they failing to display entirely, or do they actually look different when they are in the blocks?

Hey Rob,

Thanks for the reply. I got the feeds working just fine. Thanks.

As for the collapsible block issue, I still can't get it to work. Even when I set both the:

Block collapse behavior: Collapsible, expanded by default.

and

Custom visibility settings: Show this block by default, but let individual users hide it.

Javascript for the rest of the site seems to be working fine. How would I be able to test if this is the case?

Thanks again for your help. I've got one more issue that I'll post in another topic.

Cheers!

Try this -

Go to the folder sites/all/modules/jstools. In here there should be a file called 'jquery.cookie.js'. Rename the file to 'jquery.ck.js'.

I've attached an altered version of the collapsiblock module to this post. Copy it over the existing file in sites/all/modules/collapsiblock.

When you reload the site, it should work immediately if that was the problem. My thought is that some hosts out there are blocking javascipt files with cookie in the name.

Also - this does change the module itself obviously, so when you update, you'll have to re-name the file and re-edit the module. The change to the module isn't too difficult - just replace all instances of 'jquery.cookie.js' that appear in the file collapsiblock.module with 'jquery.ck.js'.

Hey Rob D,

When I click the link you provided it simply takes me to the Theme Shark homepage.

Any ideas?

Thx.

Weird. I've reattached it as a txt file, so you'll have to rename it to collapsiblock.module before overwriting.

Hey Rob,

I compared the contents of the collapsiblock.txt file you attached to the contents of my collapsiblock.module file and they are exactly the same. I'm using the 6.x-1.x-dev version of the Collapsiblock module. Did you perhaps attach the wrong file?

I went ahead and renamed the jquery.cookie.js file to jquery.ck.js but that didn't seem to help on it's own.

Also, I'm hosting my drupal site on my own private VPS. Not a shared server. Just an FYI, in case you think it's a server setting.

Thx for your help.

Also, I had to rename the jquery.ck.js file back to jquery.cookie.js because it broke the site a bit. The Admin Menu didn't stay at the top of the screen anymore, and collapsabilty/expandability of menu block on the various admin pages didn't work anymore.

Hi,

Could you disable the collapisblock and jstool modules, and let me know if the other problems you've been experiencing correct themselves? It really does sound very much like the problem ultraceo was experiencing.

Rob,

I disabled those modules but I'm not seeing any difference. The admin site seems to operate the same way, but a user still can't collapse/expand a block even when the block has the following setting:

Custom visibility settings: Show this block by default, but let individual users hide it.

Thanks for your help.

Hey Rob,

Any more ideas on how to get this to work?

Thanks.
